About Brighter Days

In late October 2022 , the Central Florida Commission on Homelessness (CoC FL-507), was awarded an $8.4 million grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP).  The Homeless Services Network of Central Florida (the lead agency for the Continuum of Care) was one of 17 communities who received the YHDP grant. We are excited to announce that we were awarded the second largest amount of funding across the nation and even more thrilled that the funding is renewable through HUD’s annual CoC program competition.

The strength of our proposal is credited to our community collaboration led by the Youth Action Society of Central Florida (YAS), our youth and young adults lived experience council. Together, we affectionately embrace YHDP as our Brighter Days Community Initiative.
